Ana J. Phoenix and Her Newest Romance!

This week’s new release is the hottest (pun intended) in m/m romance, courtesy of an awesome up and coming author Ana J. Phoenix.

After you’re done ooo-ing over the cool cover, take a moment to read what all this fuss is about:

Asher doesn’t like people, and people don’t like him. He’s cool with that—all he needs from them is sex, anyway. But when he’s suddenly thrust into a strange and dangerous world filled with magical creatures, joining forces with other people may just be the only way to survive.

It’s not all bad though—in this new world, he can turn into a fire-breathing dragon! Which would be awesome if it weren’t for José, the pesky fire elf sharing his fate whose goal in life seems to be to stop Asher from ever having fun. José is hot, though and Asher wants to get into his pants just as much as he wants to get home. But José is also blind, and Asher has no clue how to charm a man without relying on his looks.

Somehow, Asher has to show José that he’s more than a sex-obsessed pyromaniac with no filter between his brain and mouth. Preferably before either of them ends up dead. Civil war rages around them, and finding the way home isn’t going to be easy. And for Asher, getting there in one piece, and with his heart intact, might just prove impossible.

Having already read this story, I can tell you firsthand the characters are great and get you hooked right away, pulling you into the tale and their struggles. A little excitement, emotion and their own brand (yes, totally pun intended again!) of humor makes this an awesome read.

Check out more about Ana at her blog here.

Her amazon page has her growing library of tales here.

This Week: Meet Derek Paterson & His 2 New Releases!

So today’s news is actually from Friday, so we’re time traveling now!  Which is actually fitting since the story I’m going to link you to is from mythology 😀

If you know Greek myths, you’ve probably heard about Perseus and the Gorgons. But I guarantee you haven’t heard about them in this fashion. Derek Paterson’s “Getting a Head,” goes into Perseus’ quest with a whole different vibe. He adds a little modern tech and the problems that come with it into the mix and gives us a great read in the e-magazine Timeless Tales. <—Click this link to read his and other authors’ takes on the theme.

Check it out, it’s a great little read!

And if you happen to enjoy the author’s writing, you may want to check out his newest release on Amazon:

For his other works and comics, (Yay, comics!) he can be found at his blog here.

Stay tuned for more great reads and probably (most assuredly) more kpop 😀

New Release! This Time Mine! Blood on the Wall

Hi peoples! So for all the new releases today, music and books and everything, the last one this week is my own 😀

Drawn by the scent of death and despair, as guardian of the old forest, Tarik goes to investigate the death of the area’s old druid. In the grisly scene he finds there, he also runs into a reporter who may turn out to be the endangered forest’s only hope.  Jayne has come for the scoop on the murder, but when she comes in contact with the old druid’s blood, her heritage awakens and her essence begins to change.

Reluctant to believe Tarik’s explanations, she ignores the fantastic changes to her mind and body and chooses to run home instead. But when the druid’s killer decides she’s an unresolved loose end, she must quickly come to terms with her new reality, before her ignorance winds up killing them all.

My brand new short story out from Mystic Books released today. It’s a little mythology, a little murder mystery, a little action, all wrapped up in one little package. So if you have time for a little fantasy story, check it out at Amazon!

Interview with Sadie Dane, Writer of Knightly Hotness

Romance book cover for ebook

Loving the Knight #3

So yesterday was Sadie Dane’s newest release (shown above), Protected by the Knight. Today I bring you a short and sweet interview with the author herself to get to know her and her writing, who knows, maybe you’ll find a new favorite author!

So Sadie, what prompted you to write Protected by the Knight?

Protected by the Knight is actually the third book in my Loving the Knight series. Each book before was written to be enjoyed as a stand-alone, however there are repeat, or cameo, characters. That being said, Edward appeared first in the second book of the series, Possessed by the Knight as the hero’s brother. Edward was such a fun, sexy character to write, I was immediately intrigued about who he would end up with, what his sexy story was. I was able to discover that with Protected by the Knight and have to say (though I am biased) that he couldn’t have ended up with anyone better.

And what was the first story you ever wrote and what happened to it?

This is a little tricky. My first story or my first erotic story? My first story that I can remember writing was an epic piece that drew much of its inspiration from the Super Mario Brothers movie. I can only remember two characters, Slick, the bad guy who was tall, thin and had hair that he slicked back (get it?) and his sidekick, the man-sized dinosaur, Bruce. But, since the book is an erotic romance, I’ll also include my first erotic story, which was the short I did for my first anthology, A Spank in Time. That story will always hold a special place in my heart.

Here’s a fun one. Which fictional character would you like to have a drink with?

This is a rough question because as soon as I think and decide on one person a new, better character pops in my head. Not to sound narcissistic but I would love to catch a pint with every single one of my own characters (if they can stop shagging long enough). Dumbledore is another one that keeps popping up. I bet that guy is a party.

Erotica and steamy romance is a really good market. Why do you think sex sells?

Because it’s fun? I know why I enjoy reading erotic romance and it is for the same reason I read most fiction, to escape and explore. Only with erotic romance you are escaping into the arms of hot men and exploring…well you get it.

Blushing Books, your publisher, is known for their sexy spanking and domestic discipline stories, do you live that life?

This question of living the life gets asked a lot. I like to say first that I write erotic romance, do I live that life? I guess, yes, I do have sex. Sometimes it is even romantic. 🙂 As for some of the other aspects, I like to dabble–experience this or that–but I don’t think I could live one way all day every day.

So there you have it, a few personal answers to some popular questions from Sadie. Her newest book, Protected by the Knight, is out now and available at Amazon, B&N, and Blushing Books.

So I haven’t been here in awhile, but I’m back to share with everyone a brand new release from Sadie Dane!  If you like medieval times, historical romance, or just plain fun adventure, you’ll be interested in this. Plenty of extremely hot moments in this book added in with a dash (or more) of kink and you’ve got Sadie’s newest addition to her Knights series. I present to you, #3 in Loving the Knight series.

Loving the Knight #3

If that cover isn’t tempting enough, take a gander at chapter one:

Chapter One

“Of course, dove. You are my everything. Without you there is no meaning.” Edward performed his lines with the perfection of a seasoned actor. He gripped the supple cheeks of the vixen straddling him. She bit her lower lip, an amazing actress by her own right, as her bright blue eyes burned. They both knew the parts they needed to play.

“What if my husband finds out?” she whispered as if their love had robbed her of enough air to speak at a normal level.

Edward let his hands slide up her torso where he held a breast in each palm. His cock hardened at the dessert that was to come. He’d sampled this treat before and knew it was worth the theatricality required to taste it. “Let him find out,” Edward hissed, his lips vibrated against her neck. “Let the world find out!”

She wailed in longing, their scene had reached its climax and now it was time for Edward to reach his. His cock celebrated its near victory. His hands joined the party as he lifted the sultry siren up enough to delve into her silky folds.

Bang. Bang. Bang.

Someone knocked urgently at his door. Edward turned his head from the sound and lifted his hips. The woman froze, wide eyes transfixed on the very door Edward was happy to ignore.

Bang. Bang. Bang.

“Piss off!”

The woman shrieked. “What if it’s my husband?”

Moments from glory, Edward clucked his tongue and shook his head softly. “No, no,” he placed a soothing hand on her cheek. “I’m sure it is nothing import—”

“Urgent message from the King!” came the voice from the other side of the door.

“Jesus, Mary, and Joseph,” Edward bit the words out, sliding from beneath the beautiful, blonde filly. He watched her slide back and out of sight before yanking the door open, not bothering to cover himself. “What is it?”

A young, very serious looking messenger glanced once at the parchment he held before speaking at a volume loud enough for the entire castle to hear. “The King requests your discreet presence at a secret—”

“Excuse me,” Edward interrupted the messenger, leaning one arm up and against the doorway, “if it is a secret, should you be screaming?”

The messenger remained, his mouth wide open, his forehead crinkling as if he was pondering life’s greatest questions. Edward looked past the goldfish and spied a smirking figure lurking in the shadows on the other side of the path.

“I am quite busy,” Edward said to the figure in the shadows.

Caldwell leaned forward and crossed his arms. “Not anymore.”

Edward’s quite a character and if you get to like him, he’s featured in #2 of the series 😉

AbsoluteWrite’s February Blog Chain – Hunting with Hounds

This month’s AbsoluteWrite’s Blog Chain theme: Suggest-A-Prompt.
The previous poster is meant to give us our prompts and Katci13 was before me so she chose Hunting with Hounds

See the bottom of this post for previous and upcoming Suggest-A-Prompt blog chain posts!

And now, my post:

Hunting with Hounds

There was no way I’d catch him on my own. He knew the forest far too well and even though my tracking skills were good, they weren’t that good. He was a killer, one that had already hit several villages already and if I didn’t catch him now, he’d probably hit another before I caught up.

There was no other reason I’d use them. The Hounds they were called. They stayed away from the law, away from civilization, living in the dense forest outside of the castle walls. I’d known several of them since we were children and though we’d grown up on different sides of the walls, we’d stayed loyal friends. We understood each other’s roles in the world and sometimes even complimented them. Times like now.

I walked into the forest where I knew he’d entered and could feel their eyes on me within the first few steps. They’d agreed to help they weren’t entirely comfortable with me being here. I heard the leaves crackle behind me; a conscious sign from them to let me know they were there.

“Rin. Is everyone ready?”
“We are. Are you, citygirl?”
I flashed a smirk his way and glanced to my side where he stood ready to run.

“I can keep up. Remember, yours to catch, mine to take.”

A deeper voice broke in from my left; Rin’s father and unofficial leader of the Hounds.  “We’ll keep our word and not kill him. You’ll be able to take him with no problems.”

The smile the large man gave me was only reassuring to a point. Beyond that and it sent chills across my skin that even the autumn wind couldn’t cause.

I nodded and that was enough. He waved a silent gesture and it seemed the entire forest gave a lurch as person after person, wolf after wolf moved from where they’d faded into the background of the trees, leaves and shadows.

We ran for literally hours. Had I not have spent half my childhood in the forests with Rin, I’d have never lasted. The Hounds listened to their four-legged counterparts in a way that very few could. Their yips and turns of their ears and tails all constant communication with the rest of them, human and wolf alike as they tracked and scented their way through the forest.

The sounds got louder as we got closer, the wolves’ yips turning to growls, spurring everyone to run faster as they caught a stronger scent of their prey.  There was no slow run up, no time for anticipation. At one point we were running through the trees and in the next, the wolves darted off with speed I didn’t know they still had. They were suddenly ahead of us, together in one big circle of grey and brown fur, swarming and moving. It took the rest of us several more seconds to get close to them and Rin stuck his arm out in front of me to keep me from moving forward.

We couldn’t see any of the wolves’ heads inside the ocean of fur but we could hear them, the muffled growls, the snapping of teeth and worse, the ripping of skin and screams of the man under them.

Rin’s father let out a guttural yell and the wolves parted, the fur circle separating and the wolves trotting off to their respective partners with only a few spare glances behind them, making sure their prey wasn’t getting up.

For his part, the killer I was after lay frozen and it took me moments to see that he was, in fact, still alive, if unconscious. Rin let his arm down and I ran forward, looking over the bites that I could see, surprised more and more to find each one was nothing more than a shallow wound.

Rin’s father crouched beside me. “All the bites you’ll find are the same, shallow and harmless.” He clapped me on the shoulder, “But I did say that you’d have no problems taking him back when we got done. You try getting swarmed by that many of our furry friends and see if you’re up to fighting back.”

Soft laughter came from the rest of the Hounds, soon accompanied by the victory howls of the wolves and a smile broke across my face. Another town safe, another hunt over.  Job well done.

This post is for the Flash Fiction Challenge over at, a great site by Chuck Wendig, rough and tumble, straight and direct advice for writers and some great books too!

100 word story:

New neighbors

“Seriously?” Tired of that godawful noise, Theresa crouched in front of her sink cupboard and pulled the door open. A jagged-edged hole spanned the entire back of the cupboard. Beyond the pipes walked small, goblin-like creatures. And one was waving at her.

She shut the door, staring at it. “I must be losing my mind.”

“Knock, knock.” Came a small voice, followed by actual knocking.

In shock, she opened the door and the same creature that’d waved before, waved again.

She smiled nervously and waved back. “Hi there.”

The little creature extended its hand to her, smiling. “Hi, neighbor!”

WIP Mini Blog Hop

Tagged by our own darling A.T. Quinn for the WIP Blog Hop. Curses I say!! ❤

Here are the rules:

Give credit to the person/blog that tagged you.

Post the rules for this hop.

Answer these ten questions about your current WIP (Work In Progress) on your blog.

Tag five other writers/bloggers and add their links so we can hop over and meet them.

1. What is the working title of your book?

Shadow’s Heart

2. What genre does the book fall under?

3. Which actors would you choose to play your characters for the movie rendition?

For Terra:

Direct, confident, practical, sometimes sarcastic.

For Zarin:

Efficient, practical in his own way, casual in the most serious situations.

4. What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?

Terra and Zarin are partners, in business and sometimes crime, but when someone endangers both their peoples, they’re lead on a hunt that will take them across realms and endanger their lives and their friendship.

5. Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?

Hopefully an agency, I see nothing wrong with self-publishing but my hope would be that it gets picked up by someone who sees promise in it for a bookstore shelf someday.

6. How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?

About a year, grabbing as many minutes a day as possible between feeding the angry horde and making sure the house doesn’t fall down.

7. What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?

Umm, not sure really, it’s a quest type story but not epic fantasy or high fantasy, so I’m sure it might fit in with other “find the artifacts, get the bad guy” type books.

8. Who or what inspired you to write this book?

The characters I think, the idea started only with a scene that popped in my head, and it went from there, the more I thought about them, the more I wanted to write their story.

9. What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?

Sandwiches!  … No, that’s probably not the right answer…   Two strong characters sometimes at odds with each other, at other times compromising, at other times wanting to bash each other upside the head, and sometimes doing just that.

Question #10

Flash Fiction Challenge Entry

There’s this blog I tend to read quite a lot. It’s filled with humor of all kinds, advice, stories and a lot of fun. Be warned if you go, there’s more than a few bad words for those with sensitive eyes and ears, but it’s all in good fun and the author, Chuck Wendig, is straight and to the point with everything he puts out there. And if you’re a writer, it’s totally worth checking out. Between advice on the physical writing itself, the industry or just another viewpoint from another author, you’re bound to pick up one or two things that are useful, probably more.

Now on this blog, on Fridays, there’s a flash fiction challenge and not only does the prompt change but sometimes the rules as well, so it’s always a surprise. This post is the answer to that challenge, found here: Terrible Minds

The challenge itself?

Pull up your fave music player

Hit shuffle , hit play

The title of the first song it plays?  That’s your story’s title. Use the song, or not, but that’s your title.

Mine is a little silly, a little happy-go-lucky, and a lot different from what I usually write, but this was what was yelling to get out so here it is. The song that came up for me?  (Brace yourself, here comes 80’s music)  The Warrior by Scandal.

Have fun reading 🙂

The Warrior

“You left me there!” Lila screamed from inside their section of the barracks.

Connor ducked another boot thrown at him from the room and contemplated his chances of getting the door shut before she nailed him with something heavy.

“Lila, will you listen for a min-” He was cut off when the boot’s partner flew by his ear. Connor sighed, standing silently against the wall beside their door. When he didn’t hear any more movement, he edged over and took a quick glance in. His partner in battle, his Shieldmate, Lila, a small, blonde, spiky-haired woman stood opposite the door, her hands gripping the windowsill. He could see her muscles bunch in her arms just before she whirled around again, hearing him at the door. He put his hand out, hoping for just one minute.

“Lila, please-” He jumped back as the metal water basin hit the edge of the doorway.

The big man ran a hand through his dusty brown hair, swearing he‘d rather fight any battle than one with Lila. He hadn’t meant to leave her alone in the middle of the tavern. On her birthday. In a dress. He let his forehead smack the wall in front of him. This was not going to go well.

Connor deepened his voice, using the tone he used with the less experienced fighters and straightened up to his full six foot height.

“Lila, I’m coming in there, whether you want me to or not. It’s my bunk too.”

Just before he took one step towards the doorway, one of Lila’s knives imbedded itself into wall, followed shortly by Lila’s soft voice.

“You are not.”

Connor glared at the knife, growling in frustration just before he walked away, a new plan in mind.

“Okay, fine,” he mumbled. “We’ll see about this.”

Half an hour later, Connor came back, a small box in hand. He set it aside in the hallway and knocked on the wall next to the open door.

“Can I come in yet?”

A second knife joined the first and silence followed.

“K.” Connor said, getting the box and opening it. A moment later, he had a small bundle of fur in the form of a kitten in his hands and was holding it up at the bottom of the doorway.

“Can he come in then?”

Connor heard the clattering of a blade as it fell to the floor and his Shieldmate’s sudden footsteps as she hurried over and took the kitten from his big hands, cradling it against her chest with a wide smile.

The big warrior stood silent a moment before nudging her. “I saw the kitten outside the tavern, he was all alone. I had to save him.”

Lila looked up at him in mock irritation, her sky blue eyes shining. “I suppose I won’t kill you, this time.”

Connor smiled and was greeted with one of Lila’s own as the two warriors both looked down at their new little bunkmate.
